This small equestrian figure depicting Alexander the Great at the Battle of Granicus was made from the bronze original that appeared in the excavations of Herculaneum (1760 - 1762). This exceptional piece was specially crafted by Antonio Reder for King Carlos III of Spain. It is a plaster cast with metallic details and a great quality, which reflects its importance. It was the first of the pieces sent to Spain for Carlos III in 1763. The original is in the Naples Museum (4996)
